Gunter Sleegers - IT analyst
As a computer scientist at the National Bank, I can combine IT with an intensive economic approach and at the same time maintain a strong link with business.
I arrived at the National Bank of Belgium quite by chance through a job fair. Oddly enough, with all the consultancy work going on, as an economist and computer scientist, I had not thought of the Bank as an employer for me. After applying, I wasn't in any doubt about accepting the offer made by the National Bank. The opportunities offered by the NBB matched my job expectations perfectly: combining IT with an intensive economic approach, maintaining a strong link with business, career and exchange possibilities within the European System of Central Banks and within the National Bank itself, extensive liberty and a pleasant atmosphere within our quite young group. Add a nice salary and a good work-life balance, and we are getting close to the ideal job.
Within the IT Department, it is my job, amongst other things, to introduce and improve information technology management processes, to determine service levels between the IT Department and its clients (both internal and external), and also to improve the IT services in general.
