Nico Lammens - IT Analyst
In the IT department every project is mapped against a clear vision of the future.
I must admit, in my search for a new job as a business analyst, I wasn’t expecting to end up at the NBB. But when I suddenly saw a vacancy at the Bank in passing and after reading the job description, I became more and more intrigued by the NBB as an employer. So, I started to look up additional information and went to several job fairs where I could talk to NBB representatives and hear their experience. I even went to the IT job fair organised by Bank itself.
So, after all the preparation and research, I had a better idea of the NBB as an employer and took my chance. I applied for the job and here I am. I can honestly say I have not regretted it for a single second and would do it again.
I must also admit that, to start with, I was afraid that the NBB would be a big (read cumbersome) institution, and especially in IT you cannot afford to innovate continuously. But I can happily say that this is not the case and, in the IT Department, every project is mapped against a clear vision of the future.
I’m now working in the IT Department’s Customer Services, more specifically in the User Access Provisioning unit, where we are responsible for Identity & Access Management, among other things. Coming here, I really felt welcome because I immediately got involved in multiple challenging projects and have already been given a lot of responsibility. In the meantime, I’ve learned a lot, not only technical skills, but also management skills. The nice thing about the IT Department is that there are also a lot of other young people.
Besides all this, of course, other advantages at the NBB are the working conditions, the mobility policy, the work-life balance, the training possibilities, international context…
One last thing I would like to say is: Yes, the recruitment procedure can take a while and there are probably a lot of other applicants, but don’t let that scare you off. If you’ve seen a vacancy which really sounds interesting for you, just go for it, send in your CV and, who knows, we might be colleagues soon!
