our Economics and Research Department. the main task of this department is to conduct analyses and make forecasts on a wide range of economic themes, with a view to backing up monetary policy and economic policy in general. The Economics and Research Department publishes numerous articles and reports and works closely together with other economists from the Eurosystem, as well as other public institutions, at both national and international level. Last but not least, it also has good contacts with institutions specialised in economic research, and particularly in academic circles.
our International and Eurosystem Coordination unit, which is composed of an interdisciplinary team of around 15 advisors who work directly with the members of the Board and assist them in preparations for international meetings which the latter attend, such as Governing Council meetings (ESCB), among others; in this way, the unit helps to define the National Bank of Belgium's strategy within the Eurosystem and and clarify the position that it adopts here in sensitive dossiers.
